How to Use Saurashtra University OPAC (IndCat)

Saurashtra University's library catalogue is available through IndCat, INFLIBNET's union catalogue of Indian university libraries. You can search books, theses, and serials held by the university library.

Step 1: Open the Catalogue

Click the button above, or paste the link into your browser, to access Saurashtra University's records directly on IndCat.

Step 2: Choose Your Search Field

At the top of the page, you'll see search field options. Select one before typing your query:

• Title — search by book/thesis title
• Author — search by author's name
• Subject — search by subject heading
• Publisher — search by publisher name
• Place — search by place of publication
• Year — search by year of publication
• ISBN — search by ISBN number
• All — search across all fields at once

Step 3: Pick Search Type

• Free-Search — broader matching, useful for partial or approximate terms
• Exact-Search — matches the exact term/phrase you enter

Step 4: Use Filters to Narrow Results

On the left sidebar, you can refine results using facet filters:

• Place (e.g., New Delhi, Ahmedabad, Rajkot)
• Publisher (e.g., Oxford University Press, Parshva Publications)
• Edition (1st ed, 2nd ed, etc.)
• Year of publication
• Language (English, Gujarati, Hindi, Sanskrit, etc.)

Click "Clear All Filters" anytime to reset.

Step 5: Browse & View Records

Each result shows the title (clickable for full details), author, and publication details (publisher, place, year). Click a title to view the complete bibliographic record.

Step 6: Download or Export Records

Next to each record, you'll find download icons to export the entry as:

• Plain Text
• MARC21 format
• BibTeX (for citation managers like Zotero/Mendeley)

Step 7: Adjust Results Per Page

Use the "Show" dropdown (10 / 20 / 50 / 100) to control how many records appear per page, and use the page numbers at the bottom to navigate further.
